About QR Symbology
QR Code corresponds to a type of machine-readable labels that consists of a pattern of black and white squares. Such barcodes can be easily scanned by smartphones or other devices with digital image sensors, and are used to store and transmit digital information. QR codes are an improvement on traditional linear barcodes, as they can store much more information in a smaller space. They are designed to be quickly recognized and read, and have a large capacity for encoding data. Essentially, QR Code is a digital storage medium, similar to a flash drive. QR codes can be scanned using smartphone cameras or special scanner apps, and the resulting data will be converted into readable text or a link to a website. In addition to the standard QR Code format, there is a smaller version called a Micro QR Code that can be used when space is limited and the capacity of 35 characters or less is sufficient.

QR Features
One of the main advantages of QR Code over traditional linear barcode type is the ability to store much more information in a smaller space. A standard QR Code symbol can store up to 3,000 alphanumeric characters, while a Micro QR Code can encode up to 35 characters. QR codes can also store binary data, such as images or audio files. They have become a popular tool for businesses and marketers, as they can be used to quickly and easily direct users to websites, social media pages, or other digital content. They are also used in a variety of industries, including healthcare, transportation, and logistics, to store and transmit important information.
- High Data Capacity: This barcode type can store large amounts of information, allowing for the encoding of text, URLs, contact information, and more.
- Error correction: QR Code utilizes the error correction mechanism, ensuring readability of damaged or distorted barcode symbols.
- Readability: QR Codes can be quickly scanned by smartphones and other devices equipped with QR Code readers, making them easily accessible to a wide range of users.
Applications:
- Marketing and advertising: QR codes are commonly used in promotional materials to provide additional product information, discounts, or multimedia content.
- Mobile payments: QR Codes facilitate secure and convenient mobile payment transactions by scanning the symbol with a smartphone to initiate a payment transaction.
- Access control and Ticketing: QR Codes are often printed on tickets for efficient entry management and attendee verification.
- Product Identification and Traceability: GS1 QR Code is capable to encode product-specific data such as GTINs, serial numbers, batch/lot numbers, and expiry dates for accurate identification and traceability.
- Supply Chain Management: GS1 QR Code enhances supply chain operations by encoding product details, manufacturing dates, and logistics data for improved inventory management and visibility.
Both QR Code and GS1 QR Code have revolutionized data sharing, marketing, and supply chain management across industries. Their high data capacity, error correction capabilities, and improved readability make them invaluable tools in today's digital world. QR Code has been applied to a wide range of applications, while the GS1 QR Code ensures standardized data encoding and interoperability within the supply chain.
