Instantly convert U3D to OBJ without needing AutoCAD® or any other rendering software.

How to Convert U3D to OBJ Using Python

In order to convert U3D to OBJ, we’ll use Aspose.CAD for Python API which is a feature-rich, powerful and easy to use document manipulation and conversion API for Python platform. Open NPM package manager, search for Aspose.CAD and install. You may also use the following command from the Package Manager Console.

Package Manager Console Command

pip install aspose-cad

Steps to Convert U3D to OBJ via Python

Python programmers can easily load & convert U3D files to OBJ in just a few lines of code.

  1. Load U3D file with Image.Load method
  2. Create an instance of ObjOptions class
  3. Call Image.Save method while passing the resultant file path & object of ObjOptions

System Requirements

Before running the Python conversion code, make sure that you have the following prerequisites.

  • Microsoft Windows or a compatible OS with Web browser.
  • Text editors such as Microsoft Visual Studio Code or Notepad or Notepad++.

Aspose.CAD for Python allows you to read, manipulate, process and export any CAD or BIM drawing file into various vector and raster formats without using AutoCAD or any other additional software. It’s multi-thread safe, cross-OS compatible, allows you to track export progress, and handle individual layers and layouts. Developers can select and convert specific layouts and layers from AutoCAD files and easily track the file conversion process.

U3D What is U3D File Format?

U3D (Universal 3D) is a compressed file format and data structure for 3D computer graphics. It contains 3D model information such as triangle meshes, lighting, shading, motion data, lines and points with color and structure. The format was accepted as ECMA-363 standard in August 2005. 3D PDF documents support U3D objects embedding and can be viewed in Adobe Reader (version 7 and onwards). U3D format was developed keeping in view the aim to establish a universal standard for three-dimensional data storage and exchange. However, the format finds its main utilization in encoding for 3D PDF rather than being used as an interchange format. Acrobat 3D converts a supported 3D file type to either U3D or PRC upon conversion into the PDF.

OBJ What is OBJ File Format?

OBJ files are used by Wavefront’s Advanced Visualizer application to define and store the geometric objects. Backward and forward transmission of geometric data is made possible through OBJ files. Both polygonal geometry like points, lines, texture vertices, faces and free-form geometry (curves and surfaces) are supported by OBJ format. This format does not support animation or information related to light and position of scenes. An OBJ file is usually an end product of the 3D modeling process generated by a CAD (Computer Aided Design). The default order to store vertices is counter-clockwise avoiding explicit declaration of face normals. Though OBJ files declare scale information in a comment line yet no units have been declared for OBJ coordinates.
