Steps to Convert ICS to OFT via Java

Java programmers can easily convert ICS file to OFT in just a few lines of code.

  1. Load the ICS file “MyFile.ics” to be converted into an Appointment object using Appointment.load method.
  2. Save the loaded Appointment object as an MSG file in a ByteArrayOutputStream “msgStream” using the save method with the AppointmentSaveFormat specifying MSG format.
  3. Create a ByteArrayInputStream object “inputStream” from the byte array of the ByteArrayOutputStream.
  4. Load the MapiMessage from the input stream.
  5. Set MsgSaveOptions with the save type as OutlookMessageFormatUnicode and set ‘saveAsTemplate’ to true.
  6. Save the MapiMessage as an OFT file “SavedFile.oft” using the save method with the MsgSaveOptions .
