Steps to Convert MBOX to EML via Java

Java programmers can easily convert MBOX file to EML in just a few lines of code.

  1. Create a new MboxrdStorageReader object called ‘reader’ passing the path to the file “sourceFile.mbox” and setting the boolean parameter to false indicating that it won’t append the Mboxrd storage.
  2. Iterate through each message in the MBOX file using reader.getTotalItemsCount() as the condition for the loop.
  3. Use the readNextMessage() method of the ‘reader’ to read the next message inside the loop and store it in a MapiMessage object called ‘message’.
  4. Use the save() method to save the message as an EML file with the file name “outputMessage” and default options for saving EML files SaveOptions.getDefaultEml() .
