Steps for KML Files Compression in C#

Developers can easily zip folders, single or multiple files programmatically with just few lines of code.

  • Define folder path containing KML files.
  • Create Object of Archive.
  • Using the Archive object, load file with a full path using its CreateEntry method.
  • Call the Save() method and pass the compressed file name (full path) as a parameter.
  • Now you will get KML file as a zip file in a relevant folder without using any zip, rar or any other compatible program.

KML What is KML File Format

KML, (Keyhole Markup Language contains) geospatial information in XML notation. Files saved as KML can be opened in Geographic Information System (GIS) applications provided they support it. Many applications have started providing support for KML file format after it has been adopted as international standard. KML uses a tag-based structure with nested elements and attributes. All the tags are case-sensitive and the order of these tags, as per KML Reference, is important to follow.
